Diet soda, a weight loss beverage that has gained popularity all around the world and has been targetting peoples who want to lose weight and reduce their sugar or calorie intake.

Diet soda or any other diet beverage have claimed to be healthy as they have no sugar and has almost  zero calories.  On other hand regular soda is packed with sugar and has up to 150 to 200 calories. So that means diet soda is healthy? The answer is NO.

In fact there are number of studies that have proven that daily consumption of diet drinks like diet soda, coke zero or any other similar diet beverage, are linked to various health complications from developing Type 2 Diabetes, metabolic syndrome to risk of heart disease,[1]

Diet soda is nothing more than a blend of carbonated water, artificial or natural sweetener, colors, flavors, and other food additives.

Diet soda usually have no calories and no significant nutrition. For example, one 12-ounce (354-mL) can of Diet Coke contains zero calories, sugar, fat, or protein and 40 mg of sodium . [11]
